I've been a nomad for 2+ years and meeting likeminded people is my favourite part of it. It's also the part I've always struggled with.
Whenever I landed somewhere new I'd find a meetup on WhatsApp or Facebook. Big social nights, lots of small talk. Fun, but I realised I valued smaller groups of people on a similar wavelength.
So I'm building the thing I wish existed. I'll be at the first tables in Chiang Mai, so come say hi!

They're both great, and they do different things. Timeleft runs dinners for people who live in a city, and it isn't in Chiang Mai. Nomadtable is a map of meetups anyone can post, which is brilliant when you want lots going on, but you plan it yourself and turn up to whoever's there. Roamyard is in between. Tables of six, only nomads and remote workers staying a few weeks or more, and I pick the group and the place so you just show up. It's only Chiang Mai for now, so I'm at the tables myself :)
Nomads, remote workers and anyone staying in Chiang Mai for a few weeks or more. Some people are brand new to the city, some have been here for months and want to meet new faces. Tables run as dinners, drinks or coffee. Everyone's 18+ and has a real profile with a photo.
When you sign up you tell me your dates, what you're into, your age range and whether you'd like to meet people who work like you or not. Roamyard uses that to sort everyone into tables, with a mix of countries, a balance of women and men, and never a table of only first-timers. I look over every table before it's revealed the day before.
Nothing! I made Roamyard because I wanted something like it to exist, so it's free. You just pay for your own food and drinks at the restaurant. If it ever gets too much for me to run on my own, I might ask for a small fee or donations then, and I'd tell you well before anything changed.
Totally fine, life happens. Just cancel in the app as early as you can so someone on the waitlist can take your seat.
Every dinner is at a public restaurant, and you can report or block anyone right from their profile or the group chat. I read every report myself within 24 hours. And like meeting anyone new, trust your gut.
Honestly no. Small tables are kind of the point. It's way easier to chat with five people over dinner than to work a room of 80 at a bar. Plenty of people who come are a bit shy at first.
